what can acupuncture treat?

Due to new regulations set out by the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) acupuncturists are currently restricted in publishing lists of what acupuncture can treat. However I and many other acupuncture practitioners believe that any condition, from niggling aches and pains, to complex unexplained conditions can and do benefit from acupuncture treatment. A recent study(CACTUS Study) targeted a group of people presenting with unexplained symptoms. Initial review of the data has shown that five element acupuncture may improve the well being of patients with unexplained symptoms. However this is just a start. I and many other practitioners invite referrals from GP’s and other practitioners at a discounted rate, with the proviso that some data about the patient’s wellbeing be (ethically) collected. Please check the acupuncture page for full list of what discounts are available.

how does acupuncture work?

The twelve more commonly used acupuncture meridians, or channels, are each paired with specific organs within the human body. When we get tired or stressed the functions of these organs can become affected. Acupuncture works to re-establish the optimal performance of the organs, or Officials, as they are called in classical texts, and re-awaken correct relationships between them. When the Officials are working collaboratively, we feel good about ourselves and life feels effortless.
